Choosing a mattress is more important than it might initially seem, so we want to show you some factors to keep in mind to help you differentiate between the qualities of different mattresses:

• Density. This is the most commonly used value when checking the quality of a mattress. According to the UNE 53231-1 standard, the recommended density for a mattress core is 30 kg/m3, and this is important data, since below this density, the durability of the mattress is highly questionable.
• Resilience (HR). This value refers to the foam’s rebound and elasticity. High resilience means that we won’t feel like we’re sinking into the mattress, nor will it feel like a rock when we lie down.
• Porosity. This value, although not included in the UNE 53231-1 standard, is vitally important, since a foam with low porosity, in addition to providing a greater sensation of warmth, will have less durability and greater deformation, regardless of its density.
• Thickness. This point is vitally important if we want the above values ​​to work properly. Depending on the intended use, we will choose a greater or lesser thickness, keeping in mind that space is quite limited in a van, so we must find a balance between comfort and space.
